Capital Works made raising and closing capital a piece of software instead of a stack of paperwork. Its platform used automation to help business owners, advisors and capital providers source, vet and close transactions, from business loans to private equity investments to the sale of a company. Wade Myers founded it with Gene Blanton, in Southlake, Texas. J.P. Morgan acquired it in 2020, 19 months into operations, for a 5x return. It sits in the portfolio because that speed was not luck. Validate the model first, put an operating team in from the start: the discipline that made a company sellable in 19 months is the discipline the studio runs on now.
